This was not what I expected, and in the best way! I was amazed at the food and the service. I began with The Texas Peach - and I had two. Light and delicious; a tequila based drink. We started our meal with the Gator Tail - not too heavy (e.g. in batter/fried), tasted "like chicken" and served with the Cowgill's Datil Pepper Aioli. Which was reminiscent of a hibachi shrimp sauce; in other words, delicious! I got the special for the night - Gorgonzola Crusted Ribeye with a Red Wine Demi Glaze. Even though it's a fish camp, I figured that Tuna (which I had been eyeing) would be there upon our next visit. The Gorgonzola was not as strong as bleu cheese and it gave just the right amount of flavor. I could have done with more of the Demi glaze, personally. The meat was tender. I worked at Longhorn Steakhouse for almost 10 years - I know steak. I also (now) rarely eat steak since I'm not around it as often. But this was quality meat! It was delicious and I'm very glad I ordered this. It came with veggies - AMAZING! Cooked and seasoned perfectly! If only I could do that at home! And the Parsley Potatoes - amazing! I feel side items can make or break a mealie at least the perception of an entree, and these most definitely made it. I did try a taste of my hub's Grilled Salmon; very fresh yet I don't recall it being too flavorful. And I tried my daughter's grits - which makes me excited about the prospect of Shrimp & Grits upon a return visit! We shared a slice of Key Lime Pie - which to my dismay, my daughter inhaled. Our server was Brandon, and he was great - polite, appreciative, and on his A-Game. But in watching the flow of the restaurant (having spent the first decade of my work-life in restaurants as a sever), I noticed how the entire restaurant flowed. Everyone ran drinks or foods whether it was their table or not and not because a manager was screaming at them or because the food or beverage item had been sitting too long. An employee merely passing by would take our compelled drink glasses or plates. The decor matched well - beachy. It was a bit loud, but we were also seated next to a party of 14. I wish we could open one close to home (Fleming Island Beach Camp in the future? Maybe?). We will most definitely be back! It was an amazing experience beyond my expectations!
